Don’t You Mind Becoming Your Own Boss?

  04/28/2022

Are you tired of being told what to do? Do you want more control over your life and career? If you feel so, then you are experiencing "the entrepreneurial seizure." It's the overwhelming desire to become your own boss. This could manifest itself as an urge to start your own business or take greater control over your current job.

The Entrepreneurial Seizure

Let's take this instance as a typical illustration of the entrepreneurial seizure. An individual is working a nine-to-five job, they're stuck in traffic every day, they have to answer to a boss, and their salary just isn't cutting it. So, they come up with the brilliant idea of starting their own business. They will be their own boss, set their hours, and make as much money as they want! Of course, this is all just an idea at this point - but it's a powerful one. And once this seed has been planted, it will continue to grow until it takes over the individual's thoughts completely.

And while it may sound like a good thing (after all, who doesn't want to be their own boss?), it can be pretty risky. This is because the individual has likely not thought through their idea carefully, and they may not have the skills or knowledge necessary to make their business a success.

Michael E. Gerber, in his book, "The E-Myth," discusses the entrepreneurial seizure and how to recognize and act on it. Gerber defines an entrepreneur as someone who creates something from nothing. This could be a new business, a new product or service, or a new way of doing things. The key is that the entrepreneur takes risks and makes things happen.

Many people feel the entrepreneurial seizure but never act on it. They are scared of the risks involved or don't have the knowledge or skills to start a business. But there are ways to overcome these obstacles.

A Strong Motivating Force

The entrepreneurial seizure is not always a bad thing. It can be the first step to achieving great success. However, it's important to be aware of the risks involved and make sure that you are prepared before taking the plunge into business ownership.

While the entrepreneurial seizure can be a strong motivating force, it is essential to remember that starting a business is a huge undertaking and not something to be taken lightly. Before quitting your job and jumping into entrepreneurship, it is crucial to do your research and make sure you have a solid plan in place. Otherwise, you may find yourself quickly overwhelmed and struggling to keep your business afloat.

Are you aching for more freedom in your work life? Do you want to start your own business but feel unsure of where to start?

If you're feeling the entrepreneurial seizure, why don't you get yourself ready by reading this detailed book by Michael E. Gerber, "The E-myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It"?
