Key Elements of a Successful Marketing Strategy

  04/17/2022

Creating a marketing strategy can be one of the more challenging parts of being a business owner, especially if you have no prior experience in marketing. However, it's a critical part of any business, as that's how you'll see more traffic driven to your website. Without an efficient strategy, you'll be reducing your sales – especially the promotional ones, and you will struggle to reach your target audience and build up those important customer relationships. We will highlight some of the key points you need to know when you're just starting out.

Consistency

How you choose to do your marketing is up to you. Make sure you choose the right platform for your audience. Whether you're creating emails, blogs, TikToks, or social media posts – you ought to make sure that you post consistently. That way, you'll be able to reach more users, and they'll know exactly when to come back to your site and look for the new content. Users don't want to follow accounts that only post every couple of months. If you think you may struggle with consistency, use Dataczar's automation features so that you can schedule your blog posts and newsletters in advance. That way, you don't have to remember to take out your phone every Wednesday at 1pm and post directly from your phone to maintain consistency.

Know Your Target Audience

Don't fall for trends without having a plan. You've seen someone generate lots of sales from selling their product on TikTok, but it doesn't mean this will work for you. Say you're selling something specific to a certain demographic, like denture glue, an elderly audience is not going to be on TikTok looking for it. Try to create a buyer persona for your product or service. Who's going to be using it? What age, gender, job, or interests might they have, what kind of location do they live in? This will help you decide which platforms to use. Research which platforms are most used by your target audience; if they're younger, Instagram and TikTok are good options. If they're older, try Facebook and Email.

Engagement

This is often very overlooked by many businesses, but it can really help you stand out. Engagement means spending a little time across social media to build relationships with customers and others in the network. Go through and like posts, comment on things, create interactive content like polls. This will make your audience feel more valued and connected to your brand. Therefore, they're more likely to act as an advocate and promote your brand on your behalf. It will also help boost your reach and brand awareness, leading to more sales/traffic and loyal customers.

Paid Advertising

This can be done in different ways, from paid ads on your chosen social media platforms to affiliate marketing. You must research which will work best to ensure you get the best ROI. Again, think about your target audience, don't pay a beauty influencer to promote something like car products, as there's likely to be no correlation between the target audiences. Don't outsource someone to create paid ads for you on social media platforms that your target audience doesn't use.

Create A Plan

There are certain things you need to set out with any marketing campaign. Firstly, you'll need a measurable goal. An example of this might be "I want to increase my Instagram following by 10%," what are you going to do to achieve this?

Secondly, you'll also need to create deliverables – for this campaign, what are you going to do? Your deliverables might be something like '3 posts within one week, and two polls on stories' if it's social media. Thirdly, you'll need a timeframe. How long are you going to give yourself to complete the campaign? And lastly, unless you're doing a totally organic campaign, you'll need a budget to stick to!
