3 Ways the World Distracts You from Your Goals

  03/10/2022

You Don't Need to do More

The world distracts people with success stories, entertainment and social media; this keeps you tired.

The seventh habit in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is Sharpen Your Saw. It means complete care of your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health. Stephen Covey encourages regular upkeep to perform at your best. Yet, we let successful entrepreneurs push us to work more. But a single mother with three jobs shows you that this method does not work for everyone.

Social Media Makes you Compare Yourself

Statistics show that we scroll and watch Netflix rather than get 6-8 hours of sleep. These distractions are not healthy habits. We take part in them until we have no time for self-care and self-development. It's worthwhile to stop engaging in these activities. But it isn't easy.

It Takes a Conscious Decision to Try

You do not need to keep going every day as some days it's enough to reflect and relax. When was the last time you scheduled fun? When was the last you went to bed early and woke up without an alarm?

You deserve these days. Or your productivity may drop.

How to Apply Covey's Advice

Listen to your body and choose to apply the advice that works for you. You may need to be extreme and delete apps and subscriptions. Or you may need time blocks for me-time and self-care routines.
